Dis-eased from birth, ingested sin
Impatient for my vanity reign
Bloody fears fill all my tears;
My mother’s guilt, my father’s shame
Sometime near then, the hunt begins
Death and grave, my will to claim
Yet Christ o’ersaw my limping gait
and smeared me with a crimson stain
Before I could know that fatal blow
Before I saw the sun
Before sin became my closest friend
His work was already done.
Passover Lamb, don’t pass over me
I once was blind, but now I see
When I was blind, you plucked your eyes
and handed them to me.
Passover Lamb, the great I AM
You’re everything to me
Without your love, grace from above
I am not but grieved.
Passover Lamb, Jesus the Christ
King of glory, power and might
Love so tender, face so bright
Ten thousand suns from silent night.
Paid in advance, my crooked dance
Compelled me to grief’s cliff, but
His outstretched hand drew me a-land
When I’d have fell adrift.
A mile high for a moment’s ride
and then to death I’d tumble, but
He knew this and made a switch
Sweeter than betrothal’s kiss.
Blessed He, O mercy, me
What words could speak?
What chords would creak?
The gravity your glory be.
Passover Lamb, pass into me
Your Holy Spirit sprinkling
Your presence like fine grains of sand
Unmeasurable on and in the seas.
Passover Lamb, give us fearless hearts
to stand firm in this wicked hour.
The shield of faith in its rightful place
Good ambushed from their towers space
Passover Lamb, near end, less days
Let us press lest we sing less prasie
Rejoice evermore, the redeemed say so
Let praises for our King fill this place.
