“But false prophets also appeared among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. Many will follow their indecent behavior, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep (2 Peter 2:1-3).
But their victims are.
The members of the eternal body of Jesus Christ have been tranquilized. We know that no weapon formed against his church shall prosper, therefore, like psychiatric medicine has no power to cure the patient of his demonic maladies, neither can the devil destroy His church. So, with two great weapons in symbiotic relationship, fashioned and sharpened and wielded over centuries, the adversary has pierced the Lord’s people with two poisonous arrows. They have been asleep ever since. The first arrow was prosperity. The second, ignorance.
